Public Hearings Phillips 66 Oil Train Terminal - Feb. 4 & 5
The San Luis Obispo County Planning Commission recently announced that they will hold public hearings on the Phillips 66 oil train terminal on February 4th and 5th, 2016. This is the critical moment in the campaign we have been waiting for. Please mark you calendars for Feb 4 & 5th to join hundreds of concerned citizens, teachers, students and public officials from all across California as we converge in San Luis Obispo to protect the health and safety of our communities.
On both days of the hearings, citizens will be invited to make short statements to the Planning Commission about our concerns. (Stay tuned - we will provide guidance on how to write up your statement, which can be up to 3 minutes.) Our aim is to have folks speak against the project during the entire day at the hearing on Feb 4 and 5.
In addition, there is a rally planned for noon on Feb. 4th.
Like the Keystone XL pipeline, we can stop these daily mile-long oil trains loaded with tar sands crude from coming through San Jose and the East Bay, but only with enough boots on the ground to counter Phillips 66 money and local political influence.
